项目学制Duration of the Program

标准学制为3年,包括6门必修课程和其他选修课程,每门必修课程两个月内完成,集中面授4天,并配以线上课程与线上辅导。在此期间,学生需完成个人和小组作业,报告,以及论文的撰写与答辩等。

Duration of the program is 3 years. There are 6 compulsory coursestaught through lectures delivered online, supported by tutorials and readings, as well as residential workshops, plus elective courses. The compulsory course shall be intensively taught over a two month periodand shall be taught face to face for 4 days.During the program, students are required to complete individual and group assignments, reports, and thesis writing and defence,etc.

BDBA901 Organisational Leadership and ChangeThis paper examines the principles of leadership styles,what is considered successful leadership, and how attitudes can impact on individual and organizational performance.It also examines the principles of organisational change, the reasons for it, how it is implemented and the role of leadership in the successful introduction of change within organisations.The paper will be delivered covering topics such as:

• Issues of leadership theory and modern leadership approaches;

• Management development, employee attitudes, motivation and performance;;

• The nature of organisational change and types of change context, such as crisis management, technological, strategic, and environmental factors;

• Change and the role of organisational performance, leadership, culture and identity, and organisational inertia.

The lectures will be supported with guided readings which will address key topics.In addition to the lectures, there will be four tutorials/small group discussions which are tutor led and supplemented by self-support learning groups. The tutorials will provide a forum to discuss the lecture material, present and discuss case studies, and provide feedback of a formative nature both from the tutor and fellow students.

This paper examines the principles of organisational psychology, the role of emotional intelligence, and the realities of group dynamics, group behaviour, intergroup conflict and co-operation. It also examines the skills necessary to identify the existence and causes of work based behaviour problems and how best to apply those skills.The paper will be delivered covering topics such as: Principles of organisational psychology; Positive employee attitudes and behaviour, reward systems;Worker stress and negative employee attitudes and behaviours;Performancemeasurement;Personalities and individual differences; the individual and the work environment.

This paper examines critical contemporary issues in the operation of multi-national businesses.The paper will be delivered covering topics such as:

• International investment and global financial markets, currency hedging, tax havens and investment risk;

• Innovation and entrepreneurship, strategic innovation, product development;

• Corporate risk, information security, and intellectual property;

• Changing geo-economic power, and emerging markets.

The lectures will be supported with guided readings which will address key topics.In addition to the lectures, there will be four tutorials/small group discussions which are tutor led and supplemented by self-support learning groups. The course will focus on the principal contemporary issues of change, debate and concerns in finance and financial markets and how these impact business decisions and business and economic prospects. It is expected that these topics will change over time as issues and economic conditions change. The topics covered will draw on ‘vernacular’ knowledge of practitioners and policy makers but this will be complemented by the latest academic research in the selected topics.The current topics that the paper might cover include: Finance post GFC: Financial regulation, ethics and governance;Finance and monetary policy, and long-term investment returns (Quantitative easing, negative interest rates, etc);FinTech and financial innovation (Bit coins, peer-to-peer lending/disintermediation, High Frequency Trading; Exchange Traded Funds; automated financial advice);Finance and demographic change; Finance and the Asian century: new markets, opportunities and risks;Climate and clean energy finance (carbon markets; stranded assets etc) markets;

The primary objective of this paper is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the research process and of research methods. Students develop a thorough understanding of the philosophy behind a range of research epistemologies, how and why different research methods are used, and the role of critical analysis in understanding extant academic literature in the field of business.

BDBA 906 研究方法II

BDBA 906Research Methodology II

This practical paper enables students to design and undertake their own primary research project using key techniques relating to a range of research methods and analyses. Students will make use of a number of case studies to develop qualitative, quantitative and mixed method approaches to research problem design and analysis.

论文Thesis

Students should complete a thesis based on research and investigation. The thesis should demonstrate their academic prowess and the integration of their industry report and business theory. The thesis will be no less than 65000 words. The candidate should develop a practice report based on research, which is a professional piece of business case reporting improvement or development in their business area. The report would be no more than 25000 words.

授课语言Language of Instruction

中文或英文授课,英文授课配有现场中文翻译。

Courses will be delivered in Chinese or English, if in English there will be a Chinese interpreter.

授课方式Teaching Mode

采用面授、线上课程与辅导、工作坊、报告等多种方式,期间还将安排各种讲座和论坛等活动。

Various methods will be used during the program, such as face to face instruction, online lectures and tutorials, workshop and report,etc.. Students can also take part in all kinds of activities, such as open lectures and forums.

每门必修课程两个月内完成,集中面授4天,并配以线上课程与线上辅导。

The compulsory course shall be intensively taught over a two month period,and shall be taught face to face for 4 days, supported by on-line lectures and on-line tutorials.

The core courses will be taught from the University of Otago’s Dunedin campus as well at the campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The residential workshops will be held on the campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

考核Assessment

考核方法 Assessment Methods

各门课程需要通过一系列评估,满分为100分。评估包括一份5000字的商业报告/文章,和30分钟的个人陈述或一份5000字的案例分析,两项各占50%。达到75分(B+)即及格,及格后可获该门课程学分。六门课程都达到B+以上的学生需要在论文前的研讨会上陈述研究计划,从而进入论文阶段。

Each of the papers which make up the coursework component will be assessed by means of two tasks, which may be either a 5000-word business report/essay, a 30 minute individual presentation or a 5000-word case analysis, each worth 50%.Total mark is 100,and 75 or above (B+) is considered pass.After passing the course, students will receive the credit for the course.Students who pass all six papers with a minimum grade of B+ will present their research proposal at a confirmation seminar in order to proceed to the thesis.

重修 Retaking

缺课或者不及格者,该门课程须予以重修。重修一般不单独安排,学员须参加下期项目相同课程的学习与考核,且须支付该门课程的重修费用。学员应主动向交大项目办公室咨询重修的有关事项,并按要求在规定的时间内办理重修手续。学员只有一次重修机会。

Students who are absent or do not pass must retake the course. Retaking is generally not arranged separately. Students must participate in the study and evaluation of the same course in the next cohort, and should pay the fee for retaking the course. Students should take the initiative to inquire SJTU Otago DBA program office about the retaking, and follow the retaking procedure within the prescribed time. Students will only have one opportunity to retake a course.

论文与毕业Thesis and Graduation

论文评定Thesis Evaluation

论文评审包括书面文件和答辩。论文答辩将会在上海举行。

Thesis evaluation is based on the written thesis and the oral defense. The oral defense of the thesis will be held in Shanghai.

学位颁发Degree Awarded

在得到奥塔哥大学学位评审委员会的认可后,完成规定学分的课程学习,考核成绩合格,完成论文并通过答辩的学生,可获颁学位。

The degree will be awarded to students who have completed all elements of assessments for each course and validated credits,and completed the written thesis and its defense after deliberation of the board of examiners of the University of Otago.

证书Diploma

按规定完成整个学术项目的学员可以获得奥塔哥大学颁发的工商管理博士文凭;未能完成整个学术项目的学员则将获得奥塔哥大学出具的成绩证明。完成必修课学习并考核合格的学员,可获颁上海交通大学工商管理博士课程证书。

Students who have completed the entire program can obtain the Doctorate Business Administration (DBA) Degree issued by University of Otago. Students who are not able to complete the entire program will receive an official transcript from University of Otago.

奥塔哥大学不强制要求但是强烈建议学员参加奥塔哥大学毕业典礼,费用学员自理。

It is not mandatory but strongly recommended by the University of Otago that the students could attend the graduation ceremony of the University of Otago. The expenses need to be paid by the students.

课程对象Target Audience

具有丰富经验的企业高级管理人员,政府机构、事业单位、非营利组织的高级管理人员等。

Experienced senior executives and governors of government agencies,institutions,and non-profit organizations etc.

入学要求Entry Requirements

1.候选者经奥塔哥大学面试审核通过录取。

2.每一位申请者必须具有:

a)商科大学文凭,并获相关的优秀学员荣誉。

b)商科大学文凭,且获得交大等名校的系统商科培训班证书(如总裁班、经理班等商科培训),且成绩优异。

c)商科或相关领域硕士文凭,且成绩优异。

d)MBA,且成绩优异。

3.候选者的评选以以下内容为基础:以往的学术记录(通常平均成绩为75分或以上),毕业后的经历和学术上的成就,从事商业活动的承诺,继续深造的意向,三位学术研究证明人。

4.每位申请者需有至少10年管理领域专业经验(包括在职读研的时间),并且在他们各自领域展示出领导的地位。

5.申请者须提供材料以证明自己具备更高水平学术学习的能力。

6.特别有资历的专业人士,若不能完全符合以上条件的,仍然可以在奥塔哥大学推荐的基础上获得特殊录取。

1.Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor(Commerce)or delegated authority.

2.Every applicant must have:

(a)A Bachelor’s degree in business with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours(Division I)or equivalent.

(b)A Bachelor’s degree with a PGDipCom(with distinction or credit).

(c)A Master’s degree in business or a related field(with distinction

(d)A Master of Business Administration degree(with distinction or credit).

3.Candidates will be selected on the basis of their previous academic record(normally with a grade average of B+or greater),their graduate experience and academic achievements,their commitment to the field of business,evidence that they are committed to ongoing education,and reports from three referees.

4.Every applicant will normally have at least ten years of experience as a professional in business and demonstrate evidence of leadership in their field.

5.The applicant must present evidence of ability for advanced level of academic study.

6.Exceptionally qualified professionals,who do not meet the equivalent of the admission requirements under 1(b)above,may be admitted to the programme on the recommendation of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor(Commerce).
